So, I was in front of the mirror, trying on dresses, cause, (contrary to popular belief), women don't play your videogames when you're gone, they try on dresses and play with makeup. When I heard quacking outside. "Ooh, I love ducks!" I thought, and looked out the window.
And I saw a horrible thing. Terror clutched at my heart. A cat was chasing a duck and her ducklings! Ahhhh! I started yelling ("Stop it! Scram! Nooo! Bad!! and other ineffective stuff) while grappling for my pants and shoes. I raced out the door and around the corner and they were gone. Like, completely disappeared in the 5 seconds it took me to exit the house and round the corner. All was very quiet. No squawks, no chirps and no cat chomping through bone. I looked down the driveways and street and there was no cat and no duck+ducklings anywhere. I thought I was crazy (or the cat got them all and was feasting right around the corner and I was a little creeped).
Then I heard a frantic chirping and there was one, lone, duckling up a driveway freaking out and calling into the air.
I went a little panicky and flipped out and started clapping and stomping around all the bushes trying to flush out the duck (while wondering how to take care of a duckling and was there duck food at the petstore?) and crying a little because the duckling was so freaked out and fell down a little grassy hill still chirping.
Then, lo, I saw the duck. She was a ways down the street stretching her head all about looking a bit frantic herself. She must've heard the chirping because she then started quacking and then the duckling was going crazy running in every direction at once. I herded her down another slope and then down the street, where the whole duck family gave me very suspicious looks and waddled as quickly as they could away from me and down to the pond across the street from my apartment.
It then occurred to me to look around and see if anybody had been watching me and thought I was crazy or wanted to share in the joy of the duck family reunited. Nobody had or did and that's why I ran into the house and plugged in the computer and am sharing it with you.
Yay! Ducks! Yay!
