Now, what’ve I got to say. It’s Friday! But a bit of a dull Friday, I must say. Students left early and the office is rather empty. I think many teachers may have left, but I really never quite know.
Holy moly, I’m boring. I’m sorry. I’ve usually got some goofy anecdote for you, but I’m lacking inspiration today. It’s super snowy outside. It’s not terribly cold but just cold enough, I guess, that it’s snow and it’s sticking. Under the top layer of fluff it’s all wet, dirty sludge, so it’ll probably be all gone in a few days. Here’s hoping for a bit of sun this weekend. Sunshine on my shoulders would be really lovely.
I made another fantasmagoric dinner last night. We had some old French bread so I sliced it thin and toasted it into crispy flat crouton-like slices. They were perfect for dippng in the asparagus soup (yay! Spring is asparagus season). And then I put together a salad with a last-minute-inspiration-type dressing made with a lot of parsley, garlic, anchovy paste, olive oil and lemon juice. Really tasty meal.
It’s the end of the school year here today. Next week there are no students at ALL and I think the hours are rather lax. We’ll see. There’s an end-of-the-year teacher party tonight which means a lot of beer, frightening food and scary-drunk Japanese men. I’ve been skipping most of the teacher parties, but feel it’d be downright rude to miss this one. They’re just not really my scene.
Weellll...I’ve really ran out of meaningless chatter. I think I’ll be daring and read my book. It just seems like it must be wrong to read a book while sitting at a desk at work, but I’m going to go against instinct today and do it anyway.
Hugs all around, my dears!
